OUTSIDE THE BOAT INTERNATIONAL

Encouraging believers to get "outside the boat" and serve God on short term mission trips

MISSION STATEMENT

Outside the Boat International (OTBI) is a non-profit organization that shares the gospel of Jesus Christ while providing vocational training, therapeutic counseling, and medical services to the poor, distressed, and underprivileged people in various impoverished countries. So many of their needs are practical and common to man, and we can come alongside them and provide strategic help. We do this because we feel we have a God-given responsibility to help those less fortunate than us. In all of these activities, we encourage North Americans to get “outside the boat” and serve with us on short-term mission trips.

SEWING/CROCHETING TEAM

Are you skilled in either sewing and/or crocheting and have the heart to teach these skills to some sweet rambunctious kids?  Then we can use you!  By teaching them a marketable skill, they are in a better position to provide for their own needs. They also learn the importance of excellent workmanship, finishing what they start and the sense of accomplishment that comes from making something!

WORK TEAM

There’s always hard work that needs to be done. Whether it is painting, cleaning gutters, plumbing, carpentry or anything in between our work team is there to serve the missionaries and help them with whatever is on their ‘to-do’ list.  This then frees them up for additional ministry opportunities and also encourages them to stay focused on what God has called them to do.

PRAY FOR EFFECTIVENESS IN OUR MINISTRY

  • Mission trips are challenging for many people.  Prayers for all volunteers and those we serve are needed and welcome.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH

We’re always on the lookout for meeting the practical needs of the people who live in the community and two effective ways are by:
1-Teaching them a marketable skill (sewing & crocheting).  This helps them with their level of poverty.
2-Pouring a concrete floor for them.  A cement floor instead of a dirt floor reduces disease and brings a new level of comfort, health & pride to a family.

MEDICAL TEAMS

We are in need of both medically trained as well as NON-medically trained individuals.  In conjunction with a local church, this team sets up a medical clinic to serve the people’s physical needs and also includes sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with each individual.  A children’s ministry is also part of this team.

UPCOMING MISSION TRIPS

Join us this summer as we'll be going to Honduras to partner with World Gospel Outreach.  We'll be working at Rancho Ebenezer which is where they have their children's home for at-risk kids.  There are two aspects of our team: The work team will be involved in tackling various work projects around their property.  Whether it's painting, replacing screens, cleaning gutters, or whatever else, we want to be the hands and feet of Jesus as we tackle these projects for them.  The second part of our team is the sewing/crocheting team.  We'll spend our days not only teaching these precious Honduran children how to sew/crochet but we'll also have the opportunity to pour into their lives.   Please prayerfully consider joining us!  It's a life-changing opportunity to serve God in beautiful Honduras!
